Nappy's Mural

The mural on the side of Nappy’s is signature mural or the central piece of the “Neshkoro a Mural Village Project." This mural has birds, insects, butterflies, and flowers painted in the meandering vines and native flowering plants of the mural. The center of the mural will depict scenes from photographs taken from a local historian’s, the late Elaine Reetz, Come Back in Time books, which will characterize the village around the turn of the century and slightly beyond.

Can you find the state bird (Robin) or the state flower (Violet) in the mural? How many different birds can you find? Name the butterflies and their host plants. How many flowering plants can you name? Do you know who “Old Abe” is? Can you find him in the mural? A hint – it has to do with the Civil War and you can find more information about this and other Wisconsin History on the Wisconsin Historical Society’s website: wisconsinhistory.org.

*This mural is sponsored by Bill and Janet Echlin, owners of Nappy’s, the Neshkoro Enhancement Committee, an Alliant Energy grant and a Wisconsin Arts Board and the National Endowment for the Arts grant.
